Catch the NT’s Million Dollar Fish
The biennial North Australian FISH FINDER puts you onto fish right around the Australian mainland, and has the best information to put you onto the Northern Territory’s million-dollar barramundi.
The 9th season of the NT’s annual Million Dollar Fish promotion kicks off October 1, 2023. The 8th season saw 20 tagged fish caught and $230,000 paid out.
Nine tagged barramundi are now eligible for the $1m prize*, and each year around 100 tagged fish worth $10k are released. Some of these become double-money $20k fish.
This MDF promotion gets better every year. Now is the time to grab a copy of FISH FINDER and start planning your Top End adventure.
FISH FINDER was first published in Darwin in 1996. The detailed barramundi fishing maps are unmatched to this day. The book is dubbed ‘the bible’ for its micro charts of rockbars and reefs, aerial photos, mudmaps, satellite imagery with GPS data overlays, and all-important fishing spots.
FISH FINDER has the information you need to catch barramundi across the Top End, Cape York Peninsula and the Kimberley, and at East Coast hotspots like Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Proserpine.
Those heading to the Top End should also consider the incredible NT Fishing GPS Data Card for your plotter, with 800+ Territory marks.
FISH FINDER is not just about barramundi. Tropical and southern reef and pelagic fishing hotspots are also covered in detail, and landbased fishing spots.
*Once the first Million Dollar Fish is caught, the remaining seven become $10,000 in value. Each year the Million Dollar Fish (MDF) sees dozens of red-tagged $10,000 fish released around Darwin, Kakadu, Arnhem Land, the Tiwi Islands and Katherine.
